Rob and I were so happy with the turnout for the Benefit concert. Rob drove back to Boulder with a nice check for the Lyon's Community fund and a van full of winter clothes. I will post some pics and videos soon. Planetbluegrass, in Lyons, has been supported by many volunteers (including musical luminaries that have graced the stages there) helping to reclaim the property and all the festivals are scheduled for next summer! check them out at http://www.planetbluegrass.com.

10/25 Mother Fools Coffeehouse w/Rob Clark--Lyons, Colorado Flood Relief Benefit

Press Release:
Rob Clark and Christine Costanzo formed a friendship over years of camping and performing together at the Rocky Mountain Song School and Folks Fest in Lyons, Colorado--one of the devastated communities from the recent flooding in Colorado. Rob is on tour promoting his new CD, Two Hands On The Wheel. This show is a benefit for the flood victims with all CD sales and cover charge going to the Lyon's Community Fund.

Rob Clark:

"Just about everywhere I’ve ever been, I’ve played music – in homes, in pubs, around campfires – and the people I’ve played with have been everything from close friends to complete strangers. With them I sometimes learned, sometimes taught, and sometimes stood silent in complete awe of their musical genius." – Rob Clark

Rob Clark is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. Originally from Western New York, he has been a resident of Boulder, Colorado for more than 20 years. Rob makes his way onto the music scene on multiple fronts, participating in festivals, jams, and on-stage performances -- much of these Colorado local, but he’s also taken it to places in California, Kentucky, New York, Wales, and Argentina. Rob’s instruments include the guitar, fiddle, and banjo. He enjoys singing, and especially harmony singing. Favorite genres include outlaw country, country, rock, Celtic, bluegrass, folk, and Americana. .

Rob has played in several bands in Colorado integrating his own songs wherever possible: Cheese Shoppe; a band of co-workers playing electric rock and roll and dance music, Steel Pennies; playing straight up bluegrass, Windfall; a sort of coffeehouse rock band, and RCJK; a duo with a strong emphasis on original music and harmony singing.

This year Rob made his debut album. In preparing the material, he wanted to capture a set of songs that sounded good together but also offered a broad view into his writing. That was something producer John McVey understood right away. The album Two Hands On The Wheel is Rob’s first full production effort. It features some of the best local area musicians. It was recorded at Coupe Studios and mastered at Airshow. As such, its an all-Colorado project, something Rob is quite happy to point out.

Christine Costanzo:

"Though she's from Ohio and currently resides in Madison, Costanzo favors the bare-bone melancholy musings of Appalachia, with a dash of Joni Mitchell's windswept Canada thrown in"... - The Onion

"(Costanzo's) playing and singing have the starkness of Gillian Welch. http://www.robclarkmusic.com

As usual, I return from Lyons, CO with ample inspiration and songwriting fodder. I had the opportunity to sit in songwriting workshops with Lynn Miles, Vance Gilbert, Mary Gauthier and Bonnie Hayes. Planet Bluegrass is an inspired group of music lovers who are doing much good in this world--well beyond just music. I have endless gratitude for what they have created. This event is one I hope the city continues each year. It was such a celebration of music and the wealth of creativity that Madison harbors.
